  • AI-generated summaries, flashcards, and practice questions from uploaded documents
  • Support for PDF, Word, text, and markdown files
  • YouTube video transcript extraction and processing
  • Public library for sharing and discovering study materials
  • Gamification features including points and study streaks
  • Interactive study tools and practice quizzes

The service uses artificial intelligence from 3rd party providers to process and generate educational content based on your uploaded materials.

3. Account Registration and Security

To use certain features, you must create an account by providing accurate and complete information. You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • All activities that occur under your account
  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use
  • Providing accurate and up-to-date information

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Users under 18 should have parental consent.

4. Content and Copyright

User Content

You retain ownership of content you upload. By uploading content, you represent and warrant that:

  • You own the content or have necessary permissions to use it
  • The content does not infringe on third-party rights
  • The content is not illegal, harmful, or offensive

License to Process

You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process your uploaded content with AI services solely to provide the requested educational tools and features.

Copyright Infringement

We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe content on our platform infringes your copyright, please contact us with details of the alleged infringement.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the service only for educational purposes and NOT to:

  • Upload copyrighted material without permission
  • Submit generated content as your own academic work
  • Abuse or overload the service with excessive requests
  • Attempt to reverse engineer or extract our AI models
  • Share account credentials with others
  • Use the service for commercial purposes without permission
  • Upload malicious, inappropriate, or illegal content
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations

Academic Integrity: Generated materials are study aids only. Using AI-generated content as your own work may violate academic integrity policies.

6. Usage Limits and Fair Use

Free Tier Limits

  • 10 AI generations per user per month
  • File upload limit: 10MB per file
  • Rate limiting: 60 requests per 10 minutes per IP address
  • YouTube videos: Maximum 10 minutes for speech-to-text processing

Usage limits help ensure fair access for all users. We may introduce paid plans with higher limits in the future.

7. AI and Data Processing

AI Processing

Our service uses 3rd party AI models to process your content. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors and should be verified.

Data Retention

We store your uploaded files and generated content to provide the service. You can delete your content at any time through your dashboard.

Public Library

Content you choose to publish in the public library becomes available to other users. Only publish content you have the right to share publicly.

8. Privacy and Cookies

Your privacy is important to us. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

We use cookies and similar technologies to provide and improve our service. By using our platform, you consent to our cookie usage as described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Service Availability and Disclaimers

No Warranties

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI-generated content.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, StudentNotes.co.uk shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from:

  • Your use of or inability to use the service
  • Any errors or inaccuracies in AI-generated content
  • Unauthorized access to your account or content
  • Academic consequences from using generated materials
  • Service interruptions or data loss

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the preceding 12 months.

11. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account immediately for violations of these terms, including but not limited to:

  • Copyright infringement
  • Abuse of service or excessive usage
  • Violation of acceptable use policies
  • Providing false information

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or using account deletion features in your dashboard.

Upon termination, your access to the service will cease, and we may delete your content after a reasonable notice period.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

13. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes by:

  • Sending email notifications for material changes

Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
